I actually do think Destiel is canon now. It’s really undeniable that Castiel loves Dean. He’s done everything, literally go through heaven and hell and earth, for Dean and because of Dean.

It’s also undeniable that Dean needs Cas. When Cas refuses to stay by Dean’s side, be it because they had the biggest bitchfight to last a lifetime (Godstiel phase) or Cas simply doesn’t want to get involved anymore (‘crazy’ phase), Dean turns into a huge jackass who can’t see straight. Dean was like a bull that just wants to hit all red things, throwing tantrums at the sight and mention of Cas, drinking and uncaring without Cas (and this drunken stupor started before Bobby died).

They’ve had such huge impacts on each other that they take a drastic shift of perspective without each other. They’re not co-dependent and nothing like Dean and Sam as brothers, mind you. Dean can function without Cas. Cas can function without Dean. They just don’t do it well.
